He said his life was his message to all mankind and what a remarkable message he has left for us. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, fondly called the Mahatma, lived a life of love, peace, compassion and humility. He believed in the human spirit to endure tyranny by countering it with only love and truth. He was a rebel, but never lifted a gun or a sword, since his weapons were non-violence and satyagraha. Remember this today and for a lifetime, for this man showed what humans can be, must be, should be.
Albert Einstein described Gandhi as, “Generations to come, it may be, will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth.”
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. remembered Gandhi as “In a real sense Mahatma Gandhi embodied in his life certain universal principles that are inherent in the moral structure of the universe. These principles are as inescapable as the law of gravitation and if this age is to survive it must follow the way of love and nonviolence that he so nobly illustrated in his life.”
